Helping Your Child Learn at Home

Explore practical strategies every parent can use!

How can you help your child learn at home without stress, conflict, or overwhelm?

Join CSPD’s Learning Outcomes team for a practical parent session focused on simple, realistic ways families can support learning at home, from primary through to secondary school.

You’ll hear practical ideas around:

  • study and homework routines
  • helping children retain information
  • reading and learning habits
  • understanding some of the teaching approaches used in today’s CSPD classrooms

We’ll also briefly unpack the “why” behind some of the changes happening in schools and explain how parents and schools can work together to support student success.

Whether your child is in primary or secondary school, this session will provide practical takeaways you can start using at home straight away.

 When  Tuesday, 9 June
 Time  7:00pm - 8:30pm (Doors open at 6:30pm)
Location  Penola Catholic College, Penrith, 75 Mackellar St, Emu Plains
Refreshments  Light refreshments will be provided.

This FREE event is open to all Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) parents and carers and is a chance to connect with other parents and learn more about the FPC.

🎤 Round 1 Debate 🎤 Congratulations to our Year 6 students who debated against St Angela’s today on the topic ‘The beach is better than the bush’. Well done to our negative team who were victorious! Our affirmative team represented our school well and were unfortunately pipped at the post. Thank you to Ms Bates for being our adjudicator and to all of the parents and staff who have supported the children in their preparations.

STEM Club with Miss Lezon 🚗 Our Kinder to Year 3 students kicked off their very first STEM Club session on Friday! They dove straight into hands-on learning, experimenting with Indy Cars and building early coding skills. Over the coming weeks, they’ll keep growing as problem-solvers, collaborators, and confident learners with a strong growth mindset. Primary students don’t worry, your turn is coming! Miss Lezon will be running a Primary STEM Club from Weeks 6–11 this term. 👩‍🔬
