CSPD school libraries are physical and digital places of inquiry and reading.

They provide access to a range of resources that help students on their Learning journey and help inspire purposeful learning.

Through access to our library resources and services, students develop a range of learner dispositions and capabilities to cultivate a culture of curiosity, creativity, imagination and innovation.

Our Library at St Paul The Apostle Primary Winston Hills

Our Physical Library

The library at St Paul the Apostle is a hub of learning. Our Teacher Librarian works in a cooperative role with classroom teachers to introduce and develop students’ research skills. This includes the use of information technology, but also how to locate information in non-fiction books such as encyclopedias and other reference books.

Every term the library has an exciting themed display at the entrance and the students enjoy seeing the new focus at the beginning of each term. All students visit the library once a week for borrowing books and the reading of a story. All classes are allocated times for research, computer access and interest groups. Students also visit the library for information skills lessons and in small groups for other research work.

The library is also open during lunchtime. Students are free to use the library computers, read books or complete research projects. Parents are welcome to visit the library in the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is a special section in the library for parents.

Year 6 are also given the opportunity to work in the library for work experience. During this time they assist the librarian by completing library related tasks.

Student Support

Our Teacher Librarian is on hand to assist students with locating quality information from relatable sources and ensure it is used in an ethical manner. All library staff have a great passion for literature and are on hand to provide help to students to find their next ‘great read’.
