π’ Important Update: SOCIAL MEDIA BAN for Under-16s Starting December 10, new rules will come into effect that prohibit under-16s from creating or keeping accounts on age-restricted social media platforms. π Why this change? Research shows that being logged into social media accounts can increase exposure to pressures and risks, such as upsetting or manipulative content, due to how platforms are designed. These changes aim to give young people more time to build digital literacy, impulse control, critical thinking and resilience before entering these online spaces. π§ While many platforms currently set 13 as the minimum age, this shift to 16 is about providing more time for healthy development in a digital world. π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ With just over two months to go, now is a great time to start conversations at home.
